Our history

As early as the 16th century, back when Emperor Maximilian I led the Tirol to its heyday, the Erber family was granted the right to distil, subject to the condition that people and cattle had to be supplied from their own spring before the water could be used for distilling.
This in-house spring is still an essential factor in creating today’s fine spirits.

Milestones in Erber history:

  • Tirolean schnaps culture since monarchy times
  • 1651: Permission to use spring water
  • in 17th century Theresian distillation rights granted
  • 1972: Investment in several copper stills
  • 1973: Opening of the show distillery
  • 2003: The traditional distillery is taken over by entrepreneurs

  • 2016: Renovations to the mash house
  • 2017: DLG Gold Award
  • 2018: Expansion works at the Erber Brennhäusl show distillery to feature a dedicated cinema
